Get Rid of Ads Before Saving Website as PDF

I use these instructions to get rid of pesky ads on websites with knitting and crochet patterns before I save the page as a PDF or print it. But you could use this for any website. I suggest you first save it as a PDF then print it out later. (If you need to print it out.)

The usual story for a knitter or crafter? We find a wonderful pattern only discover it is littered with ads all over the place. To print out the page would be to print out so many ads as well.
I will be honest and say I haven't checked to see if the other internet browsers have this available so this post is specifically for the Chrome browser.
In your Chrome browser, go get the extension "Print Friendly & PDF"

(Check out www.printfriendly.com as they may have extensions for other browsers.)

Install it the Chrome extension.

To try it out, you can use this page that has both a pattern and ads within it:

Once you are on that page, in the top right corner you will see a green icon that looks like a printer.
Click on it. Then this below will pop up.

On top of this pop-up, the second button from the left is the button called "PDF". Click on it.

It will then give you this pop-up.

Click on the green button "Download Your PDF".

It will then try to open it as a PDF in WHATEVER software you already have set as your default PDF software. My PDF software default is Adobe Acrobat.

Once it opens it up as a PDF in your default software, do a "Save As" of the PDF and save it in a location like your Desktop where you can easily find it.

Sometimes it will strip all ads and sometimes it will leave a few. It honestly depends on the back-end code of the website. If you look closely and compare the final PDF with the actual website, you will see it did strip it of a great deal of stuff to make the pattern more readable. So this is definitely a worthwhile process to go through.

Hope this helps!

Drops Scarf Knit Pattern

Simple pattern for even beginner knitters. It wouldn't be your very first project but could be when you are ready to learn about dropping yarn overs. It is that easy. Drops Scarf knit pattern is a wonderful way to put together novelty yarn you have sitting around along with other yarn, one you might not have considered pairing with it previously. For example, you can pair a mohair yarn with a flag novelty yarn. I have worked this project with many different types of yarn pairings. For this project, I paired Pima cotton with Trellis, a lacy ribbon yarn. Below is a photo of the beginning of the latest project with this pattern. The name "Drops" comes from dropping the yarn overs and the way the yarn is dropping down, like streaming rain drops. Hope you enjoy! If you have any questions, feel free to post a comment.
